If you’re as much as a Taylor Swift fan as I am, you’d know that her family are very important to her.
Last week it was announced through Taylor’s tumblr that her mother Andrea Swift has been diagnosed with cancer.
I’m sure many would beg to differ, but her mom is probably her biggest fan!
Appropriately, ‘Mumma Bear Swift’ as she’s known, presented her singer-songwriter daughter with the coveted ‘Milestone Award’.
With such a moving speech, I don’t know how Taylor kept it together!
The 57-year-old used many anacdotes to describe her daughters love for songwriting and her journey to fame.
She talked about how Taylor never really had many friends growing up so used music as her comfort and her coping mechanism.
“Her favorite thing in the world to do has been to write a song, tell a story, play a guitar or a piano, and I’ve seen those things carry her through every emotion, every experience in her life — good or bad,” she said.
With a smirk in her eye, Mrs Swift also detailed how one of the singers biggest hits, Love Story, came about.
“Her dad and I strongly disapproved of a certain young man,” she said.
“She was mad — she was real mad — and she went to her room and closed the door, and came out about an hour later with a song called ‘Love Story.’”
Expecting nothing less, the artists acceptance speech was just as perfect as her mom’s! After a lovely mother daughter embrace, the popstar thanked the fans and the academy for embracing her musical move from country to pop.
“When I told you I wanted to make a pop album and explore other genres, you showed me who you are with the grace you accepted that with,” Swift said.
“I’m so happy that I learned to write songs in a town like Nashville. I’m so grateful that I learned what hard work is from my heroes who are all sitting here, and so unbelievably proud that I learned to treat people with kindness and respect from country music.”
Taylor is the youngest recipient of an ACM award which won in 2010 at the age of 21.
